In September 2021, Pigeon Corporation became a member of the Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA). This reflects our support for its activities as a platform for strengthening collaboration between cross-sectoral stakeholders and accelerating innovation toward resolving the problem of marine plastic waste. To “leave a rich earth for the future of babies born tomorrow,” we will continue our efforts to reduce our use of plastics.

Joining CLOMA

Established with the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry acting as secretariat, the Japan Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA) is a platform to accelerate innovation through public-private partnerships and promote development and introduction of new “3 Rs” initiatives and alternative materials for plastic products.

As of October 28, 2021, CLOMA’s member list included 459 companies and groups.

Promoting monozukuri for the future

Pigeon practices sustainable monozukuri based on our Sustainable Development Policy, with full consideration for the future parenting and natural environment, so that babies born today can enjoy health and happiness decades from now. To avoid wasting limited resources, we established the “Pigeon 3 Rs,” and closely examine the durability of our products while avoiding overengineering and overdesign. By making “Replacement” one of the “Pigeon 3 Rs,” we are promoting the development and adoption of replacement materials with a lower environmental burden.

We will continue our initiatives to reduce our own use of plastic as we strengthen our cross-sectoral links with different companies and groups, striving to resolve the problem of marine plastic waste.
