In August 2022, PT. Pigeon Indonesia ("PI"), in collaboration with Bank Sampah Digital ("BSD"), launched an initiative to solve the local waste problem.

In Indonesia, the lack of widespread household separation of garbage and littering has become a problem for local communities. PI has launched the "Bank Sampah" (Waste Bank) program in collaboration with BSD to solve this problem.

The program begins by informing participating community members about healthy and clean-living behavior. Next, we explain that after waste is collected and sorted, food scraps are composted and those with economic value are converted into cash, thereby reducing waste and increasing income. Finally, we also provide training with actual waste banks and composting kits.

More than 100 women, the "driving force" of the family, have participated in this program. It will make their initiatives voluntary and sustainable by increasing their income and interest in the environment, as well as empowering their communities.

In addition to the initiatives for local residents, we also provide environmental education on waste for elementary school students who visit PI's factory and training on waste for our employees.

Factory Tour & Bank Sampah Program

We will continue to promote environmental initiatives in cooperation with local communities in order to "leave a rich earth for the future of babies born tomorrow".
