Regardless of nationality or race, all mothers must be able to give birth with peace of mind, have access to support for maternal health, and be respected as individuals.

Every year from April 11th to 17th is designated as Black Maternal Health Week. Its purpose is to widely amplify the voices of Black women, highlight maternal health support activities led by the Black community, and promote the value of 'reproductive and birth justice.

Support for Black Women's Maternal Health: Sponsorship and Donations for the 2024 Black Maternal Health Week

In recognition of Black Maternal Health Week 2024, LANSINOH LABORATORIES, INC. (hereinafter "Lansinoh"), a member of the Pigeon Group proudly sponsored the campaign through the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) and donated Organic Nipple Balms and Milk Storage Bags to Mamatoto Village, a nonprofit dedicated to improving Black maternal health outcomes in Washington D.C. and Prince George’s County, Maryland.

 

Lansinoh’s donations supported Fill-a-Bag Day, a community event where families filled bags with essential items for moms and babies. This initiative reflects Lansinoh’s commitment to supporting equitable, culturally grounded care for Black women and their families.

 

Black Maternal Health Week, held annually from April 11–17, is a national campaign founded by BMMA to amplify the voices of Black Mamas, highlight Black-led maternal health initiatives, and center the values of reproductive and birth justice. It brings attention to the systemic disparities Black women face in maternal care and the urgent need for change.

 

Mamatoto Village plays a vital role in this movement by offering holistic perinatal support services, empowering Black women through education, advocacy, and community care.
